Flyboys (2006)

The plane had just recently been invented in World War I but it was already used for airborne combat. The French even set up a special force within their Aéronautique militaire for fighter pilots mostly consisting of American volunteers: the Lafayette Escadrille.

They fought loads of air battles against the Germans and became known for their recklessness and courage. Flyboys tries to retell their adventure in a very typical Hollywood setting. I didn't care since the Lafayette Escadrille accounted for some fantastic outfits, outfits worn by some of the first combat pilots ever. On top of their uniform they all wear sturdy leather jackets with the lined pilot caps, since they were high in the open air which could get cold sometimes. Interesting are the glasses, which they had to put off knowing they were going to crash to avoid the glass shattering and damaging their eyes. James Franco, being compared to James Dean a lot, demonstrates his acting skills once more - some of you may know him for his complete opposite role in the Pineapple Express. And last but not least; check out all the different shirt collars from none to round ones.
